Boca Grande is a coastal community comprised of Gasparilla Island and the surrounding islands at the mouth of Charlotte Harbor in Northwest Lee County. Community planning efforts seek to guard its unique way of life, delicate environment, historic character, and cultural gifts through its community planning and historic preservation projects.
  • Lee Plan Goal 19 allows future planning and development efforts to be done in a coordinated and consistent manner.
  • Gasparilla Island Conservation District, which was established through an act of the State of Florida, protects the community’s fragile environment by limiting development densities.
  • Boca Grande Historic Preservation Board is a decision-making board that implements the Lee County Historic Ordinance, Lee County Land Development Code Chapter 22, by reviewing cases that affect historic-designated resources in the Boca Grande community.
