Lee County Human & Veteran Services has assistance programs available to many Lee County residents. Our assistance programs are available in three broad categories: Financial Assistance, Homeless Assistance, and Veteran Assistance.

Financial Assistance

Rent/Mortgage & Water

ATTENTION:
In observance of the upcoming holidays, Lee County Human & Veteran Services will not be accepting applications for Rent/Mortgage & Water from Wednesday, December 24 through Friday, December 26, 2025, and Wednesday December 31 through Friday, January 2, 2026.

Effective November 7, 2025, the Rent/Mortgage & Water Assistance Program will begin accepting applications. The application portal will open at 12:00 PM (noon) Monday through Friday (excluding holidays) and will close once the daily application limit has been reached.


Apply for assistance with past due rent, mortgage, move-in costs or water.

You may be eligible for assistance with past-due rent, mortgage, move-in costs or water bills if you have experienced an unexpected financial crisis.

Examples of qualifying circumstances include:
  • Temporary loss of income due to situations such as domestic violence, job loss, reduced work hours, or a medical emergency.
  • Unexpected expenses such as funeral costs, medical or dental bills, or emergency home repairs.
Applicants must meet basic eligibility criteria:
  • Residency: 12+ weeks in Lee County, verified by two documents (e.g., ID, lease, utility bill, pay stub).
  • Financial Crisis: Due to job loss (not misconduct), income loss, or unexpected expense.
  • Income: Between 200%–250% of FPL; must show ability to cover future expenses.
  • Citizenship: U.S. citizen or legal resident.
  • Age: 18+ or legally emancipated/married minors.

Electric Bill Assistance

ATTENTION:
In observance of the upcoming holidays, State of Florida offices will be closed Wednesday, December 24, through Friday, December 26, 2025, and Thursday, January 1, through Friday, January 2, 2026.

Please be advised that the LIHEAP Case Management System (CMS) will be temporarily disabled and unavailable during these periods.


Apply for assistance with electric bill assistance.

To qualify for LIHEAP assistance, applicants must:

  • Be a resident of Lee County.
  • Be a U.S. Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, or Qualified Alien.
  • Have a direct utility bill or pay non-subsidized rent that includes utilities.
  • Have a gross household income that does not exceed:
  • 60% of Florida's State Median Income (households of 1-8), or
  • 150% of the Federal Poverty Level (households of 9+)

Home Repair Assistance 

ATTENTION:
Effective December 23, 2025, the Home Repair Assistance Program will temporarily stop accepting applications.
The application portal will reopen at 8:00 a.m. on Monday, January 5, 2026. At that time, the program will begin using a new online application system.
All applications must be submitted electronically through the online portal. Paper applications will no longer be accepted.
Please note the following Lee County Human & Veteran Services office closures:
  • Thursday, December 25, 2025, through Friday, December 26, 2025 (Christmas Holiday)
  • Thursday, January 1, 2026, through Friday, January 2, 2026 (New Year’s Holiday)
