Building Permit Fee Schedule Update – Effective April 15, 2026

Lee County Community Development has updated its permit fee schedule to better align the fees with the cost of providing permitting and inspection services. Fees will be assessed using the fee schedule in effect on the date they are added to the permit record.

Lee County Community Development recently completed an updated cost analysis of permitting and inspection services, resulting in updates to the Building Permit Fee Schedule, which were approved by the Lee County Board of County Commissioners on March 17, 2026. The fees listed below reflect the new costs effective April 15, 2026. 

Fee Applicability Statement

The fee updates apply exclusively to Community Development Building Permit Fees. They do NOT include or affect DOT Permits (ROW/Driveway), Natural Resources Permits (Well), or Building Impact Fees. Please refer to the appropriate department websites for their current fee schedules.

Site Specific Applications Using an Approved Master

Applications using Approved Master plans will be assessed fees for Regulatory Review, any conditional and/or supplemental reviews, and all required inspections. 

Plan Review Fees assessed on the Master Approval application will be assessed and discounted accordingly.

Deviations from Approved Master Plans

Additional fees for required review(s) and/or inspection(s) will be assessed for minor deviations from the Approved Master plan, which may require a Revision. Including but not limited to: 

  • Change between impact windows/doors and non-impact windows/doors with shutters
  • Change in Roof Truss plan engineer
  • Change in Roof material
  • Change in Mechanical system size
  • Change in Slab design (Mono/Stem Wall)
Structural Deviations: Require a new Master Approval application. 
Non-Structural Deviations: Require a Revision to the site specific application (if deviation is for a specific property) or to the Master Approval permit (if deviation should apply to all future site-specific applications).

Why are permit fees being updated? 

Lee County Community Development completed an analysis of the cost to provide permitting and inspection services. The fee schedule has been updated to better align fees with the services provided. 

What is changing?

  • Certain fee amounts and multipliers have been updated.
  • New fee categories have been added for specific permitting activities. 
  • Some fees may be based on the number of required inspections for a permit. 
Are there new fees?

Yes. New fees have been established for specific services and review activities within the permitting process. These include fees related to intake, technology, supplemental reviews, resubmissions, inspections, meetings/consultations, and other administrative or specialized review activities. 

Additional details will be available in the updated fee schedule posted on our website. 

When will the updated fees take effect? 

The updated fees are scheduled to become effective April 15, 2026.  This date is subject to change. 

How will fees be applied to my permit?

Fees are assessed using the fee schedule in effect at the time each fee is added to the permit record.

  • Previously assessed fees will not be changed. 
  • Permits in progress may reflect a combination of pre-update and post-update fees.
Does my permit application date lock in the old fees? 

No. Fees are applied based on the fee schedule in effect at the time each fee is assessed. 

Does the permit issuance date lock in the fees? 

No. Fees are added throughout the permitting process and reflect the schedule in effect at the time they are applied. 

Can my permit be “grandfathered” under the previous fee schedule? 

No. Records cannot be grandfathered under prior fees. 

Will permits be expedited to ensure lower fees? 

No. Permit processing timelines will not change in response to the fee update. 

Where can I review the existing fee schedule?

The current fee schedule is available here for reference. It may be removed from the website shortly after implementation of the updated fee schedule.
