COMMUNITY RATING SYSTEM

The FEMA Community Rating System is a voluntary program that encourages community floodplain management practices that exceed the minimum requirements.

National Flood Insurance Program members earn discounts on flood insurance policies though higher regulatory standards for floodplain management.

UNINCORPORATED LEE COUNTY

Property owners in unincorporated Lee County will automatically receive a 25% discount on their flood insurance because of points earned through the CRS program. You can confirm you receive this discount by checking for the identification – Lee County ID# 125124 – on your National Flood Insurance Program policy.

Program for Public Information (PPI)

The Program for Public Information (PPI) is a structured plan that helps communities communicate effectively about flood risk, flood insurance, and mitigation. Through a coordinated outreach strategy, the PPI ensures residents receive clear, consistent, messages about how to reduce their flood vulnerability. Developed by a local PPI Committee, the program identifies the community's flood hazards, determines who needs specific information, and outlines targeted outreach projects such as mailers, website updates, social media posts, and public education materials. Participating in the PPI also earns additional CRS credit, helping reduce flood premiums for the community. INCORPORATED MUNCIPALITIES
