  • Primarily engaged in: Repair and painting of automobiles and industrial equipment.
  • Typical hazardous waste: paint thinner, paint waste, spray booth filters, absorbents, lead acid batteries and shop rags; may also have parts cleaning machines, used oil, used oil filters, antifreeze and aerosol cleaners


 Automotive or Mechanical Repair:

  • Primarily engaged in: repair of mechanical engines.
  • Typical hazardous waste: parts cleaning machines, used oil, used oil filters, antifreeze, aerosol cleaners, absorbents, lead acid batteries and shop rags; may also have discarded fuel, fuel filters and Freon
     

Automotive Towing:

  • Primarily engaged in: cleaning up all waste and debris from a collision site. Often the will engage in the repair of auto bodies and mechanical engines.
  • Typical hazardous waste: lead weights, absorbents, antifreeze, used oil, parts cleaning machines, used oil filters, aerosol cleaners, lead acid batteries and shop rags; may also have discarded fuel, fuel filters and Freon
     

Golf Courses:​

  • Primarily engaged in: grounds keeping and maintenance of the grounds keeping equipment.
  • Typical hazardous waste: parts cleaning machines, used oil, antifreeze, used oil filters, aerosol cleaners, absorbents, lead acid batteries, rinse water from equipment washing and shop rags; may also have discarded fuel, fuel filters and Freon
     

Marine Repair:​

  • Primarily engaged in: repair of boat engines and/or hulls
  • Typical hazardous waste: parts cleaning machines, used oil, used oil filters, aerosol cleaners, absorbents, lead acid batteries, bilge water, fabrication materials and shop rags; may also have discarded fuel, fuel filters, antifreeze and Freon
     

 Medical and Dental:

  • Primarily engaged in: providing medical services to the public
  • Typical hazardous waste: silver recovery waste (x-ray processing), lead foil packaging, amalgams, solvent, pharmaceuticals, thermometers and disinfectants
     

 Nail/Beauty Salon:

  • Primarily engaged in: beauty services
  • Typical hazardous waste: acetone, nail polish remover, solvent rags/cotton balls; salons that offer tanning may have large quantities of fluorescent bulbs
     

 Pathology Labs:

  • Primarily engaged in: analysis of biological samples
  • Typical hazardous waste: solvents, formalin/formaldehyde, metal based compounds, acids, bases and disinfectants; fully functioning laboratories can have any number of different waste streams


 Pharmaceutical:

  • Primarily engaged in: managing, distributing or formulating pharmaceuticals; medical, dental and veterinary business may also be engaged in these activities
  • Typical hazardous waste: expired medications, spill clean-up materials, damaged products, solvents or chemical precursors


 Photo Processing:​

  • Primarily engaged in: processing/developing film
  • Typical hazardous waste: developer, stop, fixer and silver recovery waste

 
Printers and Screen Printers:​

  • Primarily engaged in: printing ink onto various mediums
  • Typical hazardous waste: solvents (blanket wash), inks, paints, and solvent rags; may also have photo processing chemicals as described under "Photo Processing" above.


 Veterinary Facilities:​

  • Primarily engaged in: providing medical services for animals
  • Typical hazardous waste: silver recovery waste (X-ray processing), lead foil packaging, solvent, pharmaceuticals, thermometers and disinfectants
