Costumes are encouraged, with the following guidelines:

  • No real or realistic looking weapons are allowed
  • Lack of clothing does not = costume; shirt, shoes and bottoms must be worn at all times
  • Attendees will abide by the LCLS Patron Code of Conduct
  • Fandom Fest representatives, library staff members or security personnel reserve the right to inspect costumes and/or accessories
  • Attendees who do not comply with the rules and regulations will be asked to leave the premises.

Contestants ages 14-24 were invited to show off their mad skillz by entering our online talent competition. This free, one-of-a-kind local competition that gives finalists the opportunity to perform their original work or talents onstage in front of hundreds of spectators, family and friends.

Finalists chosen will have the opportunity to perform live at Lee County Library System’s Fandom Fest on Saturday, December 7, 2019 in downtown Fort Myers.

Official Rules

Contest is open to residents of Lee, Charlotte, Collier or Hendry counties who are between the ages of 14-24 years old on the date of entry. Any finalist who is a minor must have parental/legal guardian consent in order to perform live at the event. Participation constitutes entrant’s full and unconditional agreement to these Official Rules and to the live performance at Fandom Fest, Saturday December 7 at the Fort Myers Regional Library, located at 2450 First Street in downtown Fort Myers.

Online Entry Dates – September 15 - October 14
Public Online Voting – October 15 – November 15
Live Performance – December 7 at Fandom Fest, hosted by Lee County Library System.

Complete an online entry form at and upload 1 (one) audio or video submission of the performance. Submissions must not exceed five minutes in length. Do not delete the original video after entering the contest. Any inappropriate lyrics or performance elements will disqualify the submission. If selected as a finalist, the performers will be notified by email or phone, and all performers on the entry will be required to complete, sign and return the Individual Performance Agreement and Participant Waiver Form no later than Saturday, November 30, 2019. 

Contestants are prohibited from obtaining votes by any fraudulent or inappropriate means, including, without limitation, offering prizes or other inducements to prospective voters. Public Online Voting will take place from October 15-November 15. Each entry will be scored based on the number of Public Online Votes received. The three (3) contestants that receive the highest total scores will be considered for the live performance spots at Fandom Fest. Online votes are tabulated based on likes to videos posted on the Lee County Library System Facebook page at Lee County Library System reserves the right to refuse any entry or performance. Performances with elements of risk, including animals, may require additional insurance documentation. Finalists selected will get a 5-10 minute performance spot at Fandom Fest.

Performers must arrive at a scheduled time to check in with staff. All performers must provide their own equipment and will be responsible for set up and break down of their equipment. If a performer uses obscene language, lyrics, gestures, wears obscene clothing, or exhibits anything that is unsuitable for a family audience the performer will forfeit their spot. Drugs and alcohol including tobacco are not permitted. Library staff reserve the right to end a performance if the performer does not comply with all rules. In order to participate the contestant(s) who performed on the entry must perform live. Limited substitutions may be considered. Finalist bands must submit written lyrics for any song to be performed at Fandom Fest. In the event that a potential finalist is disqualified for any reason, an alternate will be selected by the Lee County Library System.
