The Riverdale Branch Library is undergoing a comprehensive renovation project. Having leased the facility for ten years, the County purchased the building in 2018. A needs assessment was completed and changes were identified to improve the exterior look and maximize the usage of interior spaces for patrons and staff.
External improvements will include architectural, landscaping and parking lot upgrades that will enhance the function and appearance of the library. Interior renovations will include a new, central service desk, a flexible meeting room and separate spaces for adults, teens and children. ADA upgrades also will be made to both the building and parking lot.
Construction begins May 2022 and will take approximately seven months to complete.
The Riverdale Branch Library closed at 5 p.m. April 30, 2022.
Beginning Monday, May 23, limited public service will be offered at the Alva Community Center during the Riverdale renovation. Please visit the
Service FAQ for additional information.
Residents and visitors also may choose to visit any other branch within the Lee County Library System.
Funding The total cost of the project is about $4.1 million, which includes design, construction and technology furniture. The project is being paid from the Library Fund property taxes
