Placing Holds on Materials
  • Holds may be placed for items that are in use or on order
  • You can ask to have your holds sent to any library location
  • You will be notified when the items become available
  • Hold items may only be checked out on the library card that was used to place the hold
  • Patrons are allowed 20 holds at a time
How to place a hold
  • Go to the online catalog, find materials and place a hold.
  • Visit the library and ask a staff member to place a hold on material, staff may assist with placing 4 holds for patrons at a time.
  • Call Telephone Reference 239-479-INFO (4636) and have your library card ready.
Renewing Materials
Items will automatically renew 3 days before the due date when two conditions are met:
  1. The item is eligible for renewal and
  2. No one is on hold for it at the time of the automatic renewal, 3 days prior to the due date

If you have e-mail or text notifications you will be alerted if items are renewed.

The due date will extend from the original due date.

You can check the current due date of an item by logging into your account.

Returning Materials

Items may be returned to any Lee County Library System location

Check out Limits
Check out limit = 50 items per library card

Books

  • Most books check out for four weeks, and most can be renewed for four additional weeks, unless the item is reserved for another library patron
  • "Most Wanted" and high demand books, such as best-sellers, check out for two weeks, and they may not be renewed
  • Books that the system does not own can often be borrowed through Interlibrary Loan for two weeks

Books on CD

  • Check out for four weeks
  • Renewable for four additional weeks, unless the item is reserved for another library patron

Book Discussion Kits

  • Check out limit = one per library card
  • Check out for six weeks, and may not be renewed

DVDs/Blu-ray Discs

  • Check out limit = ten per library card
  • Check out for one week
  • Renewable for one additional week, unless the item is "Most Wanted" or reserved for another library patron. Two renewals permitted

Launchpad

  • Check out limit = one per library card
  • Check out for one week, and may not be renewed
  • Holds not available

Music CDs

  • Check out for two weeks and may be renewed for two additional weeks. Two renewals permitted

Online Library

  • A variety of vendors provide digital content. Holds and checkouts work independently and differently than physical materials.

Playaways (recorded book format)

  • Check out for four weeks
  • Renewable for four additional weeks, unless the item is reserved for another library patron
  • You will need a AAA battery and earbuds to use a Playaway

Speaking Books

  • Check out limit = three per library card
  • Check out for one week, and may not be renewed
  • Holds not available
