This preserve is comprised of seven land parcels acquired between 1999 and 2006 and is located in northwest Lee County within Cape Coral. Public access is available from three locations along Burnt Store Road North, including the main entrance at 3941 Burnt Store Road N., as well as additional access points located near 26.7425 N, 82.0385 W and 26.7696 N, 82.0378 W. While there is currently no marked trail system, visitors may explore portions of the preserve on foot and enjoy hiking, fishing, wildlife viewing, and nature photography. The preserve contains a diverse range of native habitats including mesic pine flatwoods, wet flatwoods, hardwood hammock communities, freshwater wetlands, seasonal marshes, and hydric pine areas. These habitats support a variety of wildlife species including wading birds, raptors, reptiles, amphibians, and native mammals that depend on large connected natural areas for survival. Significant portions of the preserve’s wetland and upland habitats were previously disturbed by agricultural activities, off-road vehicle use, and the spread of invasive exotic vegetation. Ongoing land management and restoration efforts are focused on improving native habitat quality, restoring natural hydrology, and reducing invasive plant species to enhance ecological function throughout the preserve. Several restoration projects have been completed within the preserve, including hydrologic restoration work in the central and southern sections designed to improve natural sheet flow and restore wetland function. These restoration efforts continue to improve habitat conditions for native wildlife and strengthen the long-term ecological health of the preserve. Yucca Pens Preserve Map
