Lee County announces completion and opening of new pickleball courts at Rutenberg Park
Courts open for play Thursday; ribbon-cutting ceremony set for Feb. 24
Fort Myers, FL, Feb. 4, 2026 – Lee County Parks & Recreation announces that the new pickleball courts at Rutenberg Park, 6500 South Pointe Blvd., are complete and the courts will open for play Thursday, Feb. 5.
The $3.2 million improvement project added eight lighted pickleball courts, including four covered courts, along with a shade structure, ADA-compliant restrooms, a staff office building, parking lot improvements, new sidewalks and a paved walking trail. The project was funded through Community Park Impact Fees.
An official ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the completion of the project is scheduled for 10 a.m., Feb. 24 at Rutenberg Park. The event will include brief remarks from Lee County Commissioners and other officials. Rutenberg Park, which first opened in 1977, offers a variety of recreational amenities, including tennis and racquetball courts, football and baseball fields, a playground and a pavilion. The addition of pickleball courts expands recreational opportunities for residents and visitors while supporting the continued growth of the sport in Lee County.
