Wellness Programs

Lee County provides a robust Employee Wellness Program focused on meeting employees where they are on their path to wellness. Whether the focus is improving physical, mental or financial health, our wellness programming provides a variety of information, resources and opportunities to reach your wellness goals. 

​	​ If you participate in our Medical Insurance through Aetna, you can earn gift cards for completing various wellness tasks throughout the plan year.   Start earning credit towards your gift cards by completing an online health assessment. Your responses are kept confidential on a secure site. Continue to complete required tasks throughout the year to earn your gift card. It's all part of improving your overall health. This online wellness program can help you learn ways to improve your health or simply fine-tune your daily habits. ​	​ Use the Walkingspree app as a daily tool to set goals, track activity, take on-demand workouts, challenge your co-workers, earn prizes, and step your way into better health. You can either use a wearable device to track steps or you can simply carry your smart phone. Lee County BoCC provides access to the Walkingspree wellness app at no cost to employees. Employees may invite a "plus 1" to join them at no charge. The County coordinates quarterly, organization-wide challenges and competitions for which employees can obtain points towards earning gift cards and entries into raffles!	​
​	​ Calm is the #1 app for sleep, meditation and relaxation. Manage stress, balance moods, sleep better and refocus your attention through sleep stories, guided meditation, soothing sounds and more. Lee County provides access to the Calm app for employees and access for up to 5 additional household members at no cost.	​ Get Access to Calm by using your work email to register with this link.
​	​ Aetna Resources for Living is an employee assistance program, available at no cost to you and all members of your household. Children living away from home are covered up to age 26.  Services offered include access to emotional wellbeing support and counseling, daily life assistance, legal services, financial services, and online resources including on-demand webinars. You can also access up to 5 confidential counseling sessions per issue each year at no cost to you either face to face, via televideo or chat therapy. You can also call 24 hours a day for in-the-moment emotional well-being support. Because the program is through Aetna, all counselors are in-network with our Aetna medical plan as well, so participants can seamlessly transition into longer-term care if necessary. After the initial 5 free sessions, you would only be responsible for a $10 copay per session.	​
​	​Know your Numbers! You can’t fix something if you don’t know about it.  Each calendar year, we partner with Quest Diagnostics labs to conduct biometric screening events which measure BMI, blood pressure, blood sugar and cholesterol. Personal results are kept confidential and are provided to you so you can work directly with your physician to address any areas of concern. Employee participants in our Aetna Medical Plan will receive a $50 gift card for participating.  ​
Husk Discount Program	​ Helping you keep your work and life balanced; our Aetna medical plan provides access to Husk Member Discount Program which offers discounts on everything from travel services to gym memberships. Once you are enrolled in benefits, visit Aetna.com and navigate to Health & Wellness for more information.  ​
​	Aetna Health app benefits - Your health plan in your hands Need quick access to your health and benefits info? Use the Aetna Health app for: ID cards: Pull up your ID card whenever you need it. Benefit details: Get coverage specifics for your plan. Deductibles: Track spending and progress to meet your deductible. Claims: Check and pay claims for your whole family. Providers: Find network providers near you by location or specialty. Cost estimates: Compare costs for doctor visits and procedures. Health reminders: Get personalized tips to improve your health.    ​
​Onsite Vaccination Clinics	​Each year, our Lee County Wellness Team partners with pharmacies to host on-site vaccination clinics at several locations throughout the County. There is no-cost for Aetna Medical participants for this preventative benefit.  ​
​Mindfulness & Exercise Classes	​We offer periodic lunchtime virtual and in-person Yoga and Tai Chi exercise classes to help you connect and relax your body & mind.  We are also available to come out to department meetings to provide mindfulness and self-care instruction.  ​
​Monthly Wellness Webinars	Tune into our monthly Wellness Webinars for tips, resources and information on common physical, financial and mental wellness topics from professional experts in these areas. ​ ​
​Weight Watchers	​Our Weight Watchers partnership seeks to inspire healthy habits for real life. With an approach that incorporates physical, social and mental pillars, WW Health Solutions anchors your well-being with the most scientifically proven weight management program to promote sustainable behavior change and help achieve reductions in obesity, chronic illness and overall health.  We are pleased to offer complimentary 3-month codes for employees who wish to start their weight loss journey. ​
​Financial Wellness	Lee County offers a variety of resources to assistyou in your Financial Wellness journey including participation in 457 Deferred Comp plans, retirement planning throu Florida Retirement System, and financial resources through our Employee Assistance Program, Aetna Resources for Living.
​Health & Wellness Fair	​Once a year we offer a robust County-wide Employee Health Fair. During this event you can connect with local wellness practitioners and companies as well as some of our vendors to find out the best wellness practices and services available to you.   Our next Health Fair will be April 2, 2025! ​
​Department Visits and Wellness Champions	​We believe strongly in building relationships with our internal departments. We have department Wellness Champions that represent each of our departments, these are your liaisons to bring information to your department about our ongoing offerings. Lee County has received recognition from several external organizations for our efforts to provide a premier Employer Wellness Program:

Aetna

The Workplace Well-being award was established in 2017 and recognizes middle market, public and labor employers nationwide who offer an Aetna medical plan to employees. Award recipients are selected based on information on their well-being strategy and design, communications and organizational engagement and program implementation and evaluation.

Lee Health

Lee Health's Partners in Wellness program recognizes organizations and communities that provide wellness resources to promote healthy outcomes, such as preventative screenings, wellness education, and chronic disease programs. The Partners in Wellness program began in 2022 when it identified local communities that actively worked to improve the health and wellness of their residents by promoting wellness programming and activities.

By working collaboratively, Blue Zones Project® helps make healthy choices become easy choices in all of the places where people live, work, learn, and play. We develop deep relationships with many types of organizations in the communities—worksites, schools, restaurants, grocery stores, and participating organizations)—providing them with tailored tools to help implement evidence-based practices in their environments.
