What is a Vehicle Registration Stop?

A Registration Stop on a license plate prevents the vehicle owner from renewing their Vehicle Registration. The Registration Stop must be released prior to renewing the license plate registration. LeeWay is not the only entity which places Registration Stops with the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (DHSMV). Registration Stops are often issued by other Florida toll agencies and by other governmental or private entities.

How to release a Vehicle Registration Stop?

Vehicle owners are required to pay all tolls, fees, and fines that are owed to Lee County. Any Vehicle Registration Stop placed by other toll agencies, other governmental or private entities cannot be resolved through the Leeway customer service center.

To Check whether Lee County Toll Facilities (LeeWay) has placed a Registration Stop on your vehicle, and the amount due, enter your License Plate Number and Last Name of the vehicle's registered owner here.  The full amount due must be paid in order to release the Registration Stop.

If you have any questions regarding a Registration Stop placed by Lee County Toll Facilities, please contact the LeeWay Service Center at (239) 533-9297.

If no result is delivered, then an entity other than Lee County may have placed the Registration Stop.  Follow the link to the Florida DHSMV website where you can check to see which entity placed the Registration Stop. This site also provides contact information for the entities which place Registration Stops.
