At the April 21, 2020 Board meeting, the Lee County Commissioners approved a phased-in approach to begin re-opening Lee County-owned trails and some services beginning April 22, 2020.

Below is an interactive map to help you locate those that have re-opened. A list is also available below the map. As locations are re-opened, remember to use best practices to stop the spread of COVID-19. These include social distancing, staying home as much as possible, proper handwashing, limiting groups to less than 10 – and staying calm, kind and safe. The map and the list will be updated as decisions are made to re-open locations or update services.

 Animal Services

Closed or Cancelled Services
  • The clinic is closed to all non-emergency procedures.
  • Licensing is currently closed. Payments can be mailed to LCDAS, 5600 Banner Dr, Fort Myers FL, 33912.
Open or Modified Services
  • Adoptions and fostering is open by appointment only Monday-Friday from 10 a.m.- 4 p.m. 
  • The Lost and Found open to drop off or claim stray animals by appointment only Monday- Friday from 10 a.m.- 4 p.m.
  • Pet Pantry is offering pick-ups by appointment only.
  • Animal Control Officers will continue to respond to emergency calls.

 Community Development (Building Permits)

  • Public Works lobby is closed to the public.
Open or Modified Services
  • Online permitting is available
  • Building inspections will continue but staff will not conduct physical inspections of occupied structures; protocols are in place to handle them remotely.
  • Special Events permits for public gatherings of greater than 1,000 people that require County approval will not be issued until further notice.

 Human and Veteran Services

  • All Library meeting and study rooms are closed.
Open or Modified Services
  • Eight libraries are open with limited building capacities, hours and services
    • Self-service options include contactless self check-out, curbside holds pickup, and copy, scan and print stations.
    • Computer usage is limited to two hours per person, per day.
    • Meeting spaces, study rooms, general seating and other gathering spaces are unavailable.
    • Patrons are expected to follow the CDC's social distancing guidelines of staying 6 feet apart from others that are not in your party. Face covering are recommended, but not required.
    • Building capacities are limited to 50%.
    • Hand sanitizer and sanitizing wipes for computers are available.
    • Buildings are cleaned and disinfected throughout the day following CDC guidelines.

  • All branch locations are offering contactless curbside holds pickup. See more details on contactless holds pickup.
  • Due dates and library card expiration dates have been extended.
  • Exterior book returns are open. Please No Donations.

  • Routes 80 and 160 will remain out of service until further notice. 

Open or Modified Services

  • Rosa Parks Transportation Center Lobby will reopen on August 27th. Hours will be 8am-5pm Monday thru Friday.
  • The go-live date for LeeTran’s new fare collection system will be September 8th. Riders can begin purchasing bus fares on August 27th in preparation for the reestablishment of bus fare collections.
  • LeeTran has waived all fares.
  • Applications and reservations for ADA (Passport) service will be conducted over the phone by calling (239) 533-0300.
  • LeeTran's lobby at 3401 Metro Pkwy in Fort Myers is open 8am-5pm Monday thru Friday.
  • Bus service running Monday through Saturday will follow a typical Saturday service schedule. 
  • Service on Sundays will run on a Sunday schedule. Routes that do not have Sunday schedules will not run on Sundays.

 Parks & Recreation

Closed or Cancelled Services

  • All programs and classes are cancelled.
  • Recreation and Community Centers are closed.

Open or Modified Services
  • Summer Camp will be held from June 15-July 31st with CDC guidelines in place. There are a limited number of spots in some of the camps, which will open for new registrations on June 1 at 8 a.m.
  • All parks, preserves, beach parks, and beach accesses including amenities have re-opened with social distancing guidelines
  • Recreation and Community Centers remain closed.
  • Pools are only open for lap swimming and physical exercise. Staff will be allowing a limited number of swimmers per hour to ensure social distancing. Indoor showers and changing areas remain closed at this time.
  • Splash pads and other playground attendees should follow CDC guidelines for social distancing and proper hygiene.
  • Groups of less than 10 who wish to practice must call and schedule with the supervisor of the park.
  • Youth sports may resume practice after submitting a safety plan
  • Dugouts and bleachers will remain closed.
  • Parking fees at parks, preserves, beaches and boat ramps are back in effect.

Please be advised, while Lee County has resumed accepting reservations for pavilions, campsites, lodges and other amenities, the county continues to take a phased-in approach to re-opening facilities using guidance from the Centers for Disease Control. As the county continues to monitor and evaluate new data with partners at the Florida Department of Health, guidelines for the number of people allowed or social distancing recommendations may change.  Solid Waste

Open or Modified Services
  • Garbage Collection will continue
  • The Topaz Court Household Chemical Waste Facility has reopened for resedential chemical waste and electronics drop off.
  • The resource Recovery Facility remains open. Hand unloaders must be in the gate 30 minutes prior to closing. Customers remaining in the unloading areas after the posted closing time are subject to a $10 fee for every 5 minutes the facility must remain open.
  • As a safety precaution, cash payments are discouraged at any of the Solid Waste facilities. Please be prepared to use a credit or debit card for payment.
  • All compost sales have resumed.

 Special Event Permits

Closed or Cancelled Services
  • Special Event permits for public gatherings of greater than 1,000 people that require County approval are not currently being issued.
  • Events using County property are not currently being permitted.

 Public Utilities

Closed or Cancelled Services
  • The Utilities Lobby located at 7391 College Parkway is closed (drop boxes are available for making payments)
Open or Modified Services
  • A drop-box is available in the front door and drive-thru at 7391 College Parkway.
  • A drop-box is available at 1500 Monroe Street, Fort Myers (near the Eastern entrance on Monroe Street).
  • Online and phone services will continue to be available.

 Tolls and Transportation

Closed or Cancelled Services
  • No In-person toll operation is currently available (transponder and toll-by-plate only)
  • LeeWay Service Center closed to the public
  • The Big Carlos Pass Bridge Project Development & Environment Study Public Hearing has been postponed to a yet-to-be-determined date.
Open or Modified Services
  • Collections will take place via Transponder and Toll-by-Plate, and service fees will be waived.
  • Customer service will be offered through a 24-hour drop box at the LeeWay Service Center, mail & fax.
