Now in effect for Boca Grande and Lee County portions of Gasparilla Island
Lee County has adopted Parking Ordinance No. 25-16 to improve safety, preserve the Island’s character, and enhance parking management for residents, employees, and visitors.
For Visitors and Non-Residents
- No permit is required to park in a non-residential zone.
- Non-residential zones have a three-hour parking limit between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.
- Exceptions to the 3-hour limitation are as follows:
A Vehicle displaying a C permit is not restricted to the 3-hour limit in Non-Residential zones.
A Vehicle displaying a B permit is not restricted to the 3-hour limit in a Non-Residential zone that is adjacent to the hotel/motel where the permit holder is a registered guest.
Vehicles displaying an A B, C, or D permit and Vehicles parked for attendance at an event sponsored by organizations located, as of January 1, 2025, on Gilchrist Avenue are not subject to the 3-hour restriction in those parking areas located at the western end of 5th Street, between Gilchrist Avenue and the Gulf of Mexico.
The Lee County Sheriff’s Office will be the entity that enforces parking time limits, restricted zones and permit requirements.
Visitors are encouraged to review the full parking map below and to check on-site signage to avoid violations.
Parking Permit Types
- A - Resident Decal: For Gasparilla Island residents.
- B - Hotel Guest Placard: For registered hotel or motel guests.
- C - Island Employee and Volunteer Decal: For employees and volunteers working on Gasparilla Island.
- D - House Guest Placard: For house guests or service providers visiting a residence.
Permit Details
- Proof of residency, employment, or hotel registration required.
- Type A and C permits valid for one year.
- Type B permits valid for the length of stay.
- Type D permits may be issued as short-term pass for rentals or guests as a one-year pass, depending on the need.
- Permits must be displayed at all times.

Boca Grande Parking Committee Information
On August 5, 2025, a new ordinance related to parking on Gasparilla Island was passed by the Lee Board of County Commissioners.
The Lee Board of County Commissioners also created a Boca Grande Parking Committee. The Committee will consist of fifteen members appointed by the Board of County Commissioners. To be eligible to serve on the Committee, an individual must:
- own or lease residential property on the Island within Lee County;
- own/operate a business on (or from-including boat docks or boat ramps) property located on the Island within Lee County;
- be employed by or volunteer for a business, not-for-profit company or organization on (or from-including boat docks or boat ramps) property located on the Island within Lee County;
- be a member of a church located on the Island within Lee County.
