Vaccination Site FAQs

The Florida Department of Health and Lee County Government have provided answers to frequently asked questions about the vaccination site's operations.

Who can get an appointment?

o Florida residents ages 18+ are eligible to receive a COVID-19 vaccine. The site will vaccinate eligible individuals registered through the State of Florida website, myvaccine.fl.gov, or 866-200-3468.

How do I register?

Add your name to the preregistration list by visiting myvaccine.fl.gov or by calling 866-200-3468. Homebound seniors can request a vaccine by emailing HomeboundVaccine@em.myflorida.com.

How does that vaccination site work?

This is a single-location vaccination site. It is located at the former sears location in Edison Mall. The address for the vaccination site is 4003 Cleveland Ave., Fort Myers, FL 33901. There is ample parking at this location, and large signs over the doors will direct you to the entrance. To avoid congestion and long lines at the site, please arrive no earlier than 15 minutes before your appointment time.

What should I bring with me on the day of my appointment?

Can anybody go to the vaccination site?

No. Only individuals with appointments can receive a vaccine at the indoor vaccination site.

What if I miss my appointed time?

Don’t worry. If you have an appointment, you won’t be turned away. Just enter when you arrive and you’ll be moved through the vaccination process and given your vaccine as planned with as little waiting as possible.

What if I got my first dose at the old RSW site, but my second dose is due now?

Individuals who received first doses at RSW between March 18 and Tuesday, March 30, will receive a call in the coming weeks from the state’s vendor, Tidal Basin, to schedule their second-dose appointments at the indoor site. Individuals who received their first dose vaccination at the RSW site after March 30, were told on-site to come to the new indoor site for their second doses at an appointed date and time.

What can I expect after I receive my vaccination injection? What if I have a reaction?

Once your vaccine is administered, you will be asked to remain at the vaccination site for at least 15 minutes so the staff can observe you for any potential reactions. Once you have been cleared to leave, you will receive instructions from the vaccine site on what to do if you should have a reaction to the vaccine after you leave. Call 911 and seek medical attention right away if you feel ill and have concerns about an allergic reaction.
You will also receive a vaccine card with the vaccine dose and date information recorded. You will need to keep that with you and bring it to your second dose appointment for verification and second dose information recording.

What if I need to cancel my appointment?

If you had previously preregistered but need to cancel your appointment:
  • Email Lee-PIO@Flhealth.gov
  • Put in the email subject line: Cancel Reservation
  • Provide in the body of the email: Name, Date of Birth

  • Email Lee-PIO@Flhealth.gov
  • Put in the email subject line: Missed call
  • Provide in the body of the email: Name, Date of Birth, and Phone number you used to preregister

Why is the vaccination site moving from RSW to the Edison Mall?

Due to increasing seasonal temperatures and humidity, as well as expected summer thunderstorms, the new site offers a safer and more comfortable option to those seeking to get vaccinated.

Is there public transportation available to the new vaccination site?
