American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA)

Since March of 2020, Lee County has used federal COVID-19 CARES Act recovery funds, to assist households with rent, mortgage and utilities, assist with childcare, support food distribution, help small businesses relaunch, and mitigate the spread of the virus.

Through the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA), Lee County was provided $149 million in Coronavirus State and Local Fiscal Recovery Funding to support the local response and recovery from the COVID-19 public health emergency.  The funds are designed to assist governments in responding to the pandemic, addressing its economic impact, and establishing a foundation for a strong and equitable recovery.  The federal government has guidelines for how the money can be spent.  The eligible uses include supporting public health, assistance to small businesses and households as well as investments in infrastructure.  Information regarding the funding Lee County received and how it is planned to be shared locally can be found on this page.

Expenditures must be obligated by December 31, 2024 and spent by December 31, 2026.

The charts below provide a high-level overview of funding allocations and spending in the various categories.  The data will be updated quarterly.  More details about the planned projects can be found on the Allocations page.
