​Lee County Human & Veteran Services offers five different types of Fair Housing Training. Read the program descriptions below, then submit the Training Request Form.

 

Children’s Fair Housing (45 minutes to 1.5 hours)

This training includes an activity booklet for the children to look at and work through. Booklet includes facts, puzzles, word search, coloring pages, etc. As they are available, handouts may include pencils, magnets, and/or temporary tattoos as available. Target audience: First through 12th grade, but the training is appropriate for adults also. Elementary: Includes reading the book The Other Side and diversity game. Middle/High: Includes Fair Housing activity booklet, diversity game, dramatic reading of civil rights issues.


 Consumer Training: Basic (15-20 Minutes)

This is basic Fair Housing training. The training briefly introduces the Fair Housing Act, what the Act covers, where to go if they have a complaint. As they are available, handouts may include Fair Housing consumer brochure, magnets, Fair Housing posters (available in English, Spanish, and Creole), and/or pencils. Target audience: church groups, agenda item on neighborhood association meetings, etc.


Consumer Training: In-Depth (45 Minutes)

This is an in-depth Fair Housing Training that builds on the introductory session and includes a question and answer period and discussion various scenarios. As they are available, handouts may include Fair Housing consumer brochure, magnets, Fair Housing posters (available in English, Spanish, and Creole), and/or pencils. Target audience: social service providers, homebuyer preparation groups, community outreach workshops, tenant associations, etc.


Provider Training (2 Hours)

A more detailed training than the in-depth consumer training and includes a question and answer period and discussion various scenarios. As they are available, handouts may include Fair Housing consumer brochure, magnets, Fair Housing posters (available in English, Spanish, and Creole), and/or pencils. Target audience: landlords, apartment managers, condominium associations, tax credit developers, HUD providers, social service agencies, lawyers, etc.


Realtor’s Office Training (1 Hour)

Training for staff on Fair Housing laws. This training can be tailored to specific areas of concern, such as 55+ communities, disability, reasonable accommodations and modifications, etc. As they are available, handouts may include Realtor cards, miscellaneous resources, advertising guidelines, Fair Housing posters (available in English, Spanish, and Creole). Target audience: Realtor’s offices.


One-on-One Technical Assistance (TBD)

Consultation/technical assistance can be provided regarding a specific area of concern.
