Great shelling and amenities make it worth the five minute hike from the parking area to the beach. Adventurous beachcombers can walk for several miles on unobstructed white sand beaches covered in shells. The shoreline at Bowman's Beach has experienced little of the intense development seen on the rest of the islands. Amenities: Gulf beach, toilets, picnic tables, pavilion, grill areas, fishing pier, canoe/kayak launch, hiking trail, bike racks.Notice: A Saltwater Fishing License is required to saltwater fish from shore. There is no fee for Florida residents. History This facility is owned by Lee County. It was maintained and operated for a long time by Lee County Parks & Recreation even though it is located within the incorporated limits of the City of Sanibel. Several years ago, city and county leaders approved an inter-local agreement turning the operation and maintenance over to the city, however the county still maintains ownership of the property.
