Persimmon Ridge Preserve is a 40-acre parcel in Alva directly northwest of Daniels Preserve at Spanish Creek. Before Lee County acquired the land, mining activities had occurred on the property. This resulted in borrow ponds and spoil being deposited in various areas on the property, which caused the property to become heavily disturbed with invasive and exotic vegetation. Today, the four plant communities found within the preserve include xeric hammock, improved pasture, wet prairie and artificial pond.
Although Persimmon Ridge Preserve does not offer public access, several Lee County parks and preserves nearby include public access and a variety of recreational activities for visitors. These locations include Daniels Preserve at Spanish Creek, Telegraph Creek Preserve, Caloosahatchee Regional Park, and Hickey Creek Mitigation Park.
