Volunteers represent the community by attending the NAB conference with the youth, youth's parent/guardian, victim, and other NAB volunteers to develop a case plan for the youth. To become a NAB volunteer, you must attend a training session to learn about the traditional juvenile court system versus the restorative justice system and learn how to put restorative justice principles into practice. An accountability board application must be submitted, along with passing a background check, and observing two conferences before you can participate. There is no set time commitment, you can volunteer as little as 2 hours a month. Anyone 14 years of age or older can volunteer with the NABs (youth need parental consent).
