Lee County Receives National Budget Award for 21st Year
May 6, 2005 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE FORT MYERS, Fla. (May 6, 2005) - For the 21st consecutive year, Lee County Government has been awarded the "Distinguished Budget Presentation Award" from the Government Finance Officers Association. The award recognizes entities for achievement in their annual budget document, based on four criteria that assess how well the budget serves as: A policy document Lee County's 21 years of "Distinguished Budget Presentation Award" recognition is the second highest number of consecutive years in the state. Lee County's annual budget (the fiscal 2004-05 budget year began October 1, 2004) can be viewed online at www.lee-county.com, then click on "Online Documents." In order to receive the award, an entity has to satisfy nationally recognized guidelines for effective budget presentation. A team of evaluators judges each submitted budget. The Government Finance Officers Association is a nonprofit professional association serving 14,000 government finance professionals throughout North America. The GFOA's Distinguished Budget Presentation Awards Program is the only national awards program in governmental budgeting. |
