Estero Boulevard Corridor Analysis and Design Project Begins Survey and Traffic Data Collection Underway
Fort Myers, FL January 17, 2008 - The Lee County Department of Transportation, in conjunction with the Town of Fort Myers Beach, recently began the Estero Boulevard Corridor Analysis and Design Project. This project is the first step in implementing the Town's Estero Boulevard Master Plan adopted in 2001. The current project will develop a pilot section of the corridor for construction and be divided into two principal phases. Initial efforts for the project began this month including surveying, aerial photography and traffic data collection. Phase I includes the initial survey efforts along with the determination of which section of the corridor to build first. This "pilot section" will be developed jointly by the Town and the County over the next six months. Phase II includes the formal design efforts leading to construction.
A presentation is scheduled on February 4, 2008 to the Town Council at their regularly scheduled meeting. This presentation will serve as a project kick-off and will provide the Town Council with a chance to meet the project team and discuss the adopted master plan. The project will also include several public information meetings and community group presentations which will be held over the next few months to seek input from the Town's residents and business owners.
Please use caution on Estero Boulevard when survey crews are present.
