Nov 26, 2007 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Survivalist and Tracker, Tom Brown Jr., to offer classes at a Lee County park What: Southwest Florida residents can sign up now to be part of an outdoors course with internationally known wilderness survival expert Tom Brown Jr., who was personified in the 2003 motion picture "The Hunted." Brown is offering three skills & philosophy courses in January, 2008. They are: The Power of Immersion: Tom will teach what he knows to be the true approach to wilderness; the ability to release the primal nature within each of us, thereby finding the rapture, the awe, the inspiration, and the excitement, that is abundant throughout all of nature's creation. Standard: In this foundational Tracker School course, participants will be shown how to observe nature more deeply, and learn the basic philosophy that Tom considers the most important part of the school and the basis for all of his beliefs. Throughout the week, Tom will teach skills including: tracking, survival, shelter, water, fire, food, stalking, trapping, crafting tools, and Native American Lifestyle and philosophy. Way of the Shaman Reunion: a motivational review for students from throughout the world who have taken Tom's Way of the Shaman class... About it: For 30 years, Brown has taught about nature, wilderness, American Indian philosophy, and primitive survival skills. He's instructed more than 20,000 people at his Tracker School in the Pine Barrens of New Jersey. In early 2008, he will be in Southwest Florida. Where: Brown's course will be at Caloosahatchee Regional Park, a 765-acre gem on the banks of the Caloosahatchee River in Alva, east of Fort Myers. The park has a newly constructed lodge. The screened, open-air structure is 2,240 square feet and will be available after Tracker School for rental to groups and future environmental education programs.
