LEE ISSUES PERMITS FOR 91 HOMES
 
FORT MYERS, Fla. (Nov. 1, 2007) – During October, Lee County Community Development issued 91 permits for single-family homes to be built in unincorporated Lee County, Bonita Springs and Fort Myers Beach. 
 
Residential permits were valued at $30.8 million in October.  There were 76 permits issued the previous month and 444 issued in October 2006.
 
About 45 percent of the single-family home permits were for construction in Lehigh Acres.
 
There were 120 multi-family units permitted in October, compared to 24 the previous month and 124 in October 2006.
 
Permits were issued for 18 new commercial buildings valued at $20 million, compared to $7.1 million the previous month and $18.6 million in October 2006.
 
In the first 10 months of this year, Lee County issued 25,235 building permits of all kinds, valued at approximately $2.1 billion.  At this time last year, the county had issued 41,023 building permits valued at approximately $3.5 billion.

Lee County Community Development oversees planning, zoning, development, and building services, environmental review, building inspection and code enforcement for the unincorporated areas of the county, and permitting services for Bonita Springs and Fort Myers Beach.
