Esteemed ´Best in the World' list ranks two of southwest Florida's islands

LEE COUNTY, FL - Sanibel and Captiva Islands have been acknowledged as being among "the best in the world" in Cond Nast Traveler magazine's 2007 Readers' Choice Awards, both earning spots on the Top-10 North America Islands list. 2007 marks the fourth year in a row for Sanibel Island to receive this honor. The highly-regarded travel magazine, with a circulation of 777,000, surveyed its discerning readers for the November 2007 issue, asking them to rate their favorite island destinations for activities, ambience, beaches, friendliness, lodging, restaurants, and scenery.

According to Cond Nast Traveler, "Since 1988, more than half a million readers – 532,569, in fact – have participated in this annual poll, resulting in awards to the dozens of cities and islands, the hundred of cruise ships and airlines, and the thousands of hotels and resorts that have transformed the world of either/or to a world rich with choices."

Editor in Chief Klara Glowczewska states, "The beauty of our survey is both its breadth – readers evaluated an all time high of 3,995 properties and places in 2007 – and its integrity and longevity: We've been doing this [poll] for 20 years."
