County Employees Donate More Than $117,000 for United Way

COUNTY EMPLOYEES DONATE MORE THAN $117,000 FOR UNITED WAY
 
FORT MYERS, Fla. (October 19, 2007) – Lee County Government Employees raised $117,148 for United Way during its recent annual fundraising campaign – an 11.5 percent increase from last year.

In all, the county has raised more than $642,000 for United Way over the past eight years:  

2007 – $117,148

2006 –   105,073

2005 –     96,148

2004 –     93,582

2003 –     72,430

2002 –     70,000

2001 –     61,676

2000 –     26,518

Employees raised the money through pledges and payroll deductions, food sales, drawings and other contests.

Lee County Government has 2,830 employees operating 25 departments and divisions, including Parks & Recreation, Libraries, Roads, Public Safety, Public Transit, Animal Control, Utilities, Solid Waste, Community Development, Human Services, Natural Resources Management, Economic Development and the Visitor & Convention Bureau.
