GUESTS:  Include Florida Secretary of State Glenda Hood, Lee Elections Supervisor Sharon Harrington, and Dawn Roberts, Director, State Division of Elections

BACKGROUND:

Renovations to the 53,700-square-foot former Home Place building cost $1.17 million.

Primary uses of the new Elections Center include:

- A third branch office for voter registration, registration changes, and early voting.

- A recruiting facility for recruiting and training poll workers.

- A storage and maintenance facility fo elections equipment.

- A programming and prepartion facility for the iVotronic touchscreen units.

- On election day, providing technical support for all of the county's polling locations, including a phone bank that communicates directly with poll workers to resolve any voter-related issues.
