13 EMS Recruits Ready to Train
Sep 4, 2007 13 LEE COUNTY EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES RECRUITS READY TO TRAIN ~field training program allows recruits to apply their skills and abilities according to local protocols~ Ft. Myers, Fla.-Lee County Emergency Medical Services (EMS) announced today that 13 recruits will begin its Field Training program. Alburn Barnard, Paramedic, Lehigh Acres, Fla. formerly Orlando, Fla. The recruits successfully completed four weeks in the agency's new employment orientation program which initiated them to local protocols and policies. The field training program allows the recruits to apply their skills and abilities according to these local protocols under the guidance of a field training officer. The recruits will remain in the field training program for up to six months or until they demonstrate competence in the field with these local protocols. To complete the field training program, each recruit must sit before a credentialling board which includes the EMS medical director, as well as EMS training and operations representatives. With the addition of these 13 recruits, Lee County EMS currently employs 255 paramedics and EMTs and is actively working to fill its 24 remaining field provider vacancies. |
