LEE TV TO AIR VIDEO ON RENEWABLE ENERGY METHODS

Lee County, Florida (July 11, 2007) – Lee TV, Lee County's government access channel, will begin airing a video that focuses on renewable energy.  It explains what renewable energy is, different methods for creating it, and how residents and business owners can conserve our dwindling natural resources and save money.

The program is part of the Living Green series produced by the University of Florida's Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (IFAS).  The series helps residents understand what it means to be "living green" in their own communities.  Homeowners, government entities, and businesses make daily decisions that affect the use of water, energy, and other shrinking natural resources.  The focus of the programs is to illustrate "green" design and management practices to protect and conserve those resources.

This episode takes a look at some applications of renewable energy such as solar power, hydrogen fuel cells, and bio-diesel to reduce consumption of fossil fuels.  Viewers will learn how to create bio-diesel fuel at home and see how an energy audit can help reduce business owners' energy consumption and operating costs.

The program will air Mondays on Lee TV at 8:30 pm, channel 11 on the Comcast cable system and in Cape Coral on channel 16.

Lee TV is the county's 24-hour government access channel that provides residents with information about Lee County Government, as well as public safety and state-related news. A broadcast schedule can be viewed at the county's website:
