Instant Book Clubs- just add refreshments!
 
FORT MYERS, FL (March 30, 2005)  Think it takes too much time or effort to organize a book club or keep everyone "on the same page?" Now the Lee County Library System has taken the stress out of Book Clubs by providing complete book discussion kits of current popular titles.
 
The kits can be checked out at Lee County Library System locations by book discussion groups. See the title list on the Lee County Library System website (www.lee-county.com/library) for the complete list of titles available.  Each kit consists of 20 copies of the book in various formats (if available) and a book discussion guide in a rolling book bag.
 
Deb Czarnik, Lee County Library System Technical Services Manager, says all of these mobile kits include a book discussion guide, to help groups get the discussion rolling!
 
"If someone's interested in starting a book discussion club, this makes it easier. For existing book clubs, this takes the research out of organizing discussions; just pick up a kit and you're good to go."
 
The formats available in most of the kits include:

• Hard cover
• Paperback
• Large print
• Audio book on CD
• Audio book on cassette
 
Czarnik says the kits feature classics as well as popular titles, including:
Amateur Marriage, Art of Mending, Bel Canto, Brave New World, The Da Vinci Code, Emperor of Ocean Park, Girl with a Pearl Earring, The Hours, How the Irish Saved Civilization, Jim the Boy, Known World , The Last Time They Met,  Middlesex, Orchid Thief, Peace Like a River, Poisonwood Bible, The Red Tent, Secret Life of Bees, Their Eyes were Watching God, and Under the Tuscan Sun.
 
Czarnik added, "These are good solid titles that allow for lots of discussion. New titles will be added each year, so book clubs can keep growing as the collection changes."

The kits can be checked out for 4 weeks. You may renew kits for an additional two weeks, if there are no reserves on the kit. For your convenience, telephone renewal is available for renewing kits at (239) 479-4636.
