EMS Announced 14 Recruits to Begin Field Training Program July 5

Field training program allows recruits to apply their skills and abilities according to local protocols~

Ft. Myers, Fla.-Lee County Emergency Medical Services (EMS) announced today that 14 recruits will begin its Field Training program on July 5, 2007.

New recruits are:
Nicole Fallacara, Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), Cape Coral, Fla.
Jodi Barkley, EMT, Labelle, Fla.
Linda Czoschke, EMT, Fort Myers, Fla.
Wil Fernandez, EMT, Miami, Fla.
Rex Friedline, Paramedic, Port Charlotte, Fla.
Richard Hendrzak, EMT, Arcadia, Fla.
Ellen Mahoney, EMT, North Ft. Myers, Fla.
Leonal Pazos, EMT, Cape Coral, Fla.
Robert Tyler, EMT, Estero, Fla.
Kendrick Jackson, EMT, Fort Myers, Fla.
Michael Macaluso, EMT, Fort Myers, Fla.
Bryan Clement, EMT, Punta Gorda, Fla.
Michalanne Cook, EMT, Naples, Fla.
Richard Waters, EMT, Miami, Fla.

The recruits successfully completed four weeks in the agency's new employment orientation program which initiated them to local protocols and policies. The field training program allows the recruits to apply their skills and abilities according to these local protocols under the guidance of a field training officer. The recruits will remain in the field training program for up to six months or until they demonstrate competence in the field with these local protocols. To complete the field training program, each recruit must sit before a credentialling board which includes the EMS medical director, as well as EMS training and operations representatives. With the addition of these 14 recruits, Lee County EMS currently employs 247 paramedics and EMTs and is actively working to fill its 32 remaining field provider vacancies.
