Letter Carriers at Cape Coral Central Post Office Set Up A Very Special Chorus Line for a Very Special Reason

WHAT: Letter Carriers of the Cape Coral Central Post Office will line up chorus line style and display their dog bite scars for National Dog Bite Prevention Week May 19-26.  Postmaster Anne Murray will be joined by Ria Brown, Public Information Specialist for Lee County Animal Services and Alberto Rivera, Animal Control Officer to speak about the problem dog bites pose to the Postal Service and the community.

WHEN: 10:00 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. Wednesday, May 23

WHERE: Cape Coral Central P.O., 1030 SE 9 Ave, Cape Coral

BACKGROUND:    Three thousand one hundred eighty four letter carriers were bitten by dogs last year, but this number pales in comparison to the more than two million children who were needlessly victimized by dogs.  The owners of many of the canines involved in those attacks believed their pet would never bite.  This year, the Postal Service and its letter carriers are working to prevent these painful, sometimes fatal, injuries by promoting community awareness and responsible pet ownership.  Please join us for this important public education campaign!

Letter Carrier Ann Crone will model her shredded letter carrier shirt & tell about her terrifying attack.
