Sanibel Causeway Improvements Project

DATE CHANGES TO LANE CLOSURES: May 12 and 13

Fort Myers, FL (May 4, 2005) - Lane closures on the Sanibel Causeway have been delayed by one day and work will not begin until tomorrow, May 12. Lanes will now be closed from 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 12 and Friday, May 13, when one lane of traffic will be closed on island "B" of the Sanibel Causeway. The contractor will be installing a temporary drainage outfall on the east side of Island "B", adjacent to Bridge C. Flagmen will be directing traffic during the lane closure. The lane closure will affect traffic flow, therefore travelers should allow extra time in planning their trip across the Causeway. Two lanes of traffic will be open at 2:30 p.m. to facilitate the "rush hour" traffic.
