Travel Lane Changes on McGregor Blvd April 12, 2007
Apr 6, 2007 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Travel Lane changes on McGregor Boulevard (Summerlin Road) Scheduled to begin April 12, 2007 Fort Myers, FL, April 6, 2007 – On Thursday night, April 12, 2007, beginning at approximately 8:00 p.m., work will be performed to merge traffic into single lanes on McGregor Boulevard (Summerlin Road) before the Sanibel Toll Plaza to allow for construction of new travel lanes to the new Toll Plaza. There will be one lane for westbound traffic (heading to Sanibel) and one lane for eastbound traffic (coming from Sanibel). Traffic leaving Sanibel east of the toll plaza will merge into one lane with traffic leaving Punta Rassa. The current existing right turn lane prior to the Toll Plaza for access on to Punta Rassa will remain in place during this phase of construction. These changes will be in place for approximately six weeks. The staging area for night time truck traffic (overweight trucks) waiting to cross the bridges to Sanibel will be relocated to approximately 1000 feet east of their current staging location prior to entering the single lane so other vehicle traffic won't be blocked. Increased delays should be expected during this period, please allow extra time for your journey. All drivers are cautioned to reduce their speed through the construction areas and heed all posted warning and directional signage.
