Horizon Council to Feature Healthcare Industry & FGCU College of Business

(March 19, 2007)---Two special presentations will be part of the Horizon Council General Membership meeting to be held at 8:30am on March 23, 2007. The meeting will be held at the Lee County Office of Economic Development Conference room at 12800 University Drive, Suite 325 in Fort Myers. Dr. Gary Jackson and Dr. Gerald Laboda will be on hand to present key findings from the Southwest Florida Health Care Study. The study is an extensive regional economic analysis and impact study of the healthcare industry in Southwest Florida. The primary purpose of the Health Care Study was to conduct an objective assessment of the overall impact of the health care industry on Charlotte, Lee and Collier Counties. In addition, the survey was used to capture the issues and concerns facing the health care industry. The study was conducted by Florida Gulf Coast University, Lutgert College of Business, Regional Economic Research Institute by Dr. Gary Jackson and Dr. Arthur Rubens. The Horizon Council presentation will be the first unveiling of the results. Also on hand to present will be Dr. David Kakkuri, Director for the Center for Leadership and Innovation at Florida Gulf Coast University. He will give an update on the Lutgert College of Business. He will also be discussing how businesses can benefit from the programs available at the school. The Horizon Council of Lee County which is hosting the meeting, is a 62-member public-private organization that advises the Lee County Board of Commissioners on economic development issues. |
