Dunbar Community Policing Annex Grand Opening
Mar 16, 2007 P R E S S R E L E A S E The Lee County Sheriff's Office and the Fort Myers Police Department are pleased to announce the Grand Opening of the Dunbar Community Policing Annex. This long-awaited joint venture will officially open with ceremonies, including a ribbon cutting, Thursday March 22, 2007, at 10:00 a.m. The annex is located at 3637 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, Unit # 105, in Fort Myers. The new office was announced as a community partnership between city and county government, the community and The annex will be the base of operation for as many as 10 Community Policing Officer's from the Police Department and Sheriff's Office assigned to the area. "Citizen's and community leaders have sought such a centralized facility for years," said Lee County Sheriff Mike Scott. He went on to say, "I am proud we could finally see it completed. The office will not only enhance the services both agencies provide the area, but illustrates our unity of purpose." Initially, the annex will be open to the public Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Of course, officers and deputies working in the area will be able to utilize the convenience of the office 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Sheriff Scott and Police Chief Hilton Daniels will be on hand along with city and county government officials, and community dignitaries at the Grand Opening Ceremony.
