County Receives $14,000 Grant from Bureau of Historic Preservation
Feb 28, 2007 For Immediate Release: Lee County received a $14,000 Acquisition & Development matching grant from the Bureau of Historic Preservation, Division of Historical Resources and Florida Department of State, assisted by the Florida Historical Commission effective September 21, 2006. This grant is being used to develop a restoration/rehabilitation plan for the Olga Community Center, formerly the Olga School. The Olga School was constructed in 1927 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. As of February 27th, 2007 the professional services of Stevenson Architects of Bradenton, FL have been secured and a preservation plan has been completed. The plan will insure the building is up to current codes and comply with the American's with Disabilities Act of 1992.
