Sanibel Causeway Bridge A to be Closed Feb 5-7 7am to 6pm
Feb 5, 2007 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE CONTACT: WARNING TO BOATERS Sanibel Causeway Bridge A Navigation Channel to be Closed during the day from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM MONDAY, February 5th Fort Myers, FL, (Feb. 2, 2007) – The Sanibel Causeway navigation channel for Bridge A, the drawbridge, will be closed during the day from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM on MONDAY, February 5th, TUESDAY, February 6th, and WEDNESDAY, February 7th, 2007. Construction activity is taking place in the navigation channels and will be hazardous to boaters. For the safety of the public and the workers, these channels will be closed between the above hours. The channel will reopen each night at 6:00 p.m. However boaters should still exercise caution during this time as the the construction barges will encroach in the main channel of the Sanibel drawbridge by approximately 45. There will be approximately 55 feet of the channel open. This closure is necessary to remove the wood forms that were used to pour the new bridge deck. There will be a safety zone established around the channels, no boaters will be allowed within 500' of the work zone and the coastguard will enforce this. BOATERS WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO PASS UNDER ANY PART OF BRIDGE A (THE DRAWBRIDGE) DURING THE DAY FROM 7:00 AM TO 6:00 PM ON MONDAY, FEBRUARY 5TH, TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 6TH AND WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 7TH 2007 AS THE WAKE IS DANGEROUS TO THE WORKERS. It is imperative that boaters use an alternative route. We appreciate your patience and consideration to this safety issues during this brief inconvenience.
