FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

WORKSHOP SCHEDULED TO DISCUSS LEETRAN FARE POLICY

FORT MYERS, FL – (JANUARY 17, 2007) LeeTran has scheduled a public workshop to share information and collect feedback on its fare structure. It will be held on Wednesday, January 31 from 1 to 3 p.m. in the county administration building's first floor conference room at 2115 Second Street in downtown Fort Myers.

LeeTran is examining its fare policy in light of what other comparable transit agencies are charging, its cost of operations and other factors such as county growth rate. The agency's last fare increase occurred in 1994, when the cost of a single ride rose from 75 cents to $1.00.

Those who attend the workshop will be presented with several options on new fare structures and will be polled on a variety of questions. LeeTran is seeking community leaders, riders, and any other interested parties to join the discussion.

"This public input is critical in our decision-making process," said Transit Director Steve Myers. "We need to balance our goal of making transit accessible to everyone with our obligation to run an efficient system that makes optimum use of tax dollars."

Interested parties may RSVP their attendance to 239-533-0333. Those who are unable to attend may complete an online survey between January 18-25 by visiting www.rideleetran.com.
