Jan 18, 2007 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE CONTACT: WARNING TO BOATERS Sanibel Causeway Navigation Channel Closed for Work Bridge C Navigation Channel Closed on Monday, January 22nd Fort Myers, FL, Jan. 18, 2007 – The Sanibel Causeway navigation channel at Bridge C (bridge closest to Sanibel) will be closed on Monday, January 22nd from 7:00 a.m. through 6:00 p.m. This closure is necessary to set the girders over the channel for the new bridge. The construction activity is taking place in the navigation channel and will be hazardous to the boating traffic. For the safety of the public and the workers, this channel will be closed between the above hours. There will be a safety zone established around the channel, no boaters will be allowed within 500' of the work zone and the coastguard will enforce this. BOATERS WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO PASS UNDER ANY PART OF BRIDGE C ON MONDAY, JANUARY 22nd FROM 7:00 A.M. THROUGH 6:00 P.M, AS THE WAKE IS DANGEROUS TO THE WORKERS. It is imperative that boaters use an alternative route. We appreciate your patience and consideration to this safety issues during this brief inconvenience.
