FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

FREE TROLLEY SERVICE STARTS JAN. 18

FORT MYERS, FL (JANUARY 16, 2007 )– LeeTran's three seasonal trolley routes will be free starting Thursday, Jan. 18 through Sunday, April 15, 2007.

Thanks to funding from Lee County, the Town of Fort Myers Beach and the City of Bonita Springs, riders can park and ride to Fort Myers Beach or Bonita Beach free of charge.

The three trolley routes are:

Summerlin Square Park and Ride – Parking is free in the lot behind Summerlin Square Shopping Center at the intersection of Summerlin Road and San Carlos Blvd. This trolley travels between Summerlin Square and Bowditch Park at the northern end of Fort Myers Beach.

Fort Myers Beach Trolley – This route extends from Bowditch Park at the north end of the island to Lovers Key State Park at the south end, making frequent stops along Estero Boulevard including all public beach access points.

Bonita Springs Trolley – This trolley travels from the K-Mart parking lot at U.S. 41 and Bonita Beach Road, west on Bonita Beach Road to Lovers Key State Park, stopping at Bonita's public beach access points.

All three routes offer seven-day-a-week service and trolleys have plenty of space for beach gear.

"We encourage all beach-goers to take advantage of this free service," said Transit Director Steve Myers. "Riders will save money on gas and parking fees, and reduced traffic congestion will make the beach experience more enjoyable for everyone."
