Jan 12, 2007 MEDIA ADVISORY DATE: December 21, 2006 Lee County Disaster Advisory Council Seeks Input on Local Mitigation Strategy Lee County Disaster Advisory Council seeks public input on the unified local mitigation strategy for Lee County. An electronic draft of the updated strategy can be reviewed online at: http://www.safelee.org/mitigation/. Currently adopted in 1999, the local mitigation strategy is updated to comply with federal legislation requiring strategies to meet certain criteria in order to be eligible for hazard mitigation grant dollars, and to take advantage of more scientific and technically based risk assessment tools to determine the threats of hazards to Lee County and its municipalities. Comments should be received by Jan. 17, 2007 and can be provided by calling 239-335-1600, in writing, or send them electronically to the following email address: wilsonjd@leegov.com. |
