Lee County PugFest III: Pug Idol Call for Entries
Jan 1, 2007 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE MEDIA CONTACT: Ria Brown, Public Information Specialist, Lee County Animal Services Karen Sloan, Library Development Specialist, Lee County Library System(239) 461-2914 Lee County PugFest III: Pug Idol Call for Entries Fort Myers, Florida, (01-01-2007) Lee County PugFest III: Pug Idol will be held Sunday, March 11, 2007 from 12:00 - 4:00 pm at the Bell Tower Shops in Fort Myers. The Fest will include the crowning of the Pug Idol King and Queen, a pug fashion show, pet contests for all dog breeds, pet microchipping, and vendor exhibits featuring book signings by nationally noted authors of pug books, pet products, pet portraits, and a Chinese Auction. Nominations are being accepted from pug owners who would like their pets to be crowned Pug Idol King and Queen. Four runners-up (two males and two females) will be named to the Pug Idol Royal Court. Judging will take place at the event. Following the judging, all pugs entering the competition will participate in a parade to kick off the event festivities. Applications to enter the Pug Idol King and Queen competition must be received by 5:00 pm, March 7th. All proceeds from Lee County PugFest III will benefit the Southwest Florida Reading Festival and the Lee County Animal Care Trust Fund. The Southwest Florida Reading Festival is an annual event to encourage reading and use of the library's resources. The Animal Care Trust Fund provides money for a variety of needs including affordable spay/neuter surgery for disadvantaged pet owners, care of neglected or abused animals, and disaster preparedness for pets.
