Public Information Meeting for Ortiz & Luckett Road Projects
Dec 8, 2006 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Fort Myers, FL, December 8, 2006 – The Lee County Department of Transportation (LC DOT) will hold a public information meeting for the widening of Ortiz Avenue from Dr. Martin Luther King (MLK), Jr. Boulevard (SR 82) to Palm Beach Boulevard (SR 80) and Luckett Road from Ortiz Avenue to Enterprise Parkway from 6 - 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, December 12, 2006 at the Schandler Hall Community Center, 419 Florence Avenue, Fort Myers, Florida. The meeting will be conducted in an "open house" format; no formal presentation will be given. LC DOT is inviting the public to attend the meeting to view preliminary design plans and make comments on the project. Representatives from Lee County will be available to discuss the project and answer questions. You may attend anytime between 6 – 7:30 p.m. Ortiz Avenue is an important evacuation route and an alternate route for Interstate 75 (I-75). The project consists of widening the existing two-lane roadway to four lanes and eventually to six lanes from Dr. MLK, Jr. Blvd. to Palm Beach Blvd. Luckett Road will be expanded to a four-lane roadway between Ortiz Avenue and Enterprise Parkway to provide additional capacity to I-75.
