THANKSGIVING HOLIDAY - GARBAGE COLLECTION SCHEDULE CHANGE

FORT MYERS, Fla. (November 9, 2006) – Please be advised that all unincorporated areas of Lee County as well as the City of Bonita Springs, and the Town of Fort Myers Beach will have no garbage, recycling, and yard waste collections in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday, Thursday, November 23rd, 2006.

The Thursday collection is moved to Friday; likewise, if Friday is your normal garbage collection day, then the pick up is on Saturday.

This schedule is only in effect for November 23rd  through November 25th, 2006.  Regularly scheduled collections will resume on Monday, November 27th, 2006.

Please note that County offices are closed for Thanksgiving, November 23rd and also Friday the 24th of November, 2006.

For the holidays we tend to cook more and often use disposable aluminum cooking and baking pans a.k.a. foil pans in the preparation of our dishes.  Please remember that these pans are recyclable and are a valuable resource for the production of new aluminum products. Aluminum pans and cans are practically 100 percent recyclable, and the aluminum does not degrade as it is recycled -- it can basically be reworked into infinity without losing quality. Just wash the dish in soapy water prior to placing it in the recycling container please.

We thank you for your efforts and your commitment to Lee County's recycling program.

Have a safe holiday!
