Animal Services Director Elected President of FACA
Nov 18, 2006 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE MEDIA CONTACT: Lee County Animal Services Director Elected President of FACA Cocoa Beach, Florida, 11/18/06-Lee County Animal Services' (LCAS) director, Scott Trebatoski, has been elected by a unanimous vote of the membership of the Florida Animal Control Association(FACA) to head that organization as its president in 2007. "It is with great excitement that I accepted this position. The animal control profession is gaining attention and respect as the state-certified professionals they are," said Trebatoski. "FACA represents high standards for training and behavior of its membership and is always striving to improve our profession. The future looks very bright and everyone across the state benefits from well-qualified, professional animal control services." Trebatoski was elected to the Board of Directors of the Florida Animal Control Association in 2005 and was elected its Vice President in 2006. Awards were presented recognizing the achievements of the best individuals and agencies in the state. Hillsborough County Animal Services received two awards (Supervisor of the Year and Animal Control Officer of the Year) and Bay County Animal Control received one award (Caretaker of the Year). For the first time in many years, no agency was named to replace Lee County Animal Services (LCAS) as Outstanding Animal Control Agency for 2006. LCAS named Outstanding Animal Control Agency in the State of Florida for 2005 by the Florida Animal Control Association at its annual conference. LCAS was recognized for innovation, progressive and proactive work in the industry, and positive results including a reduction in euthanasia as a percentage of intake and a major increase in adoptions. FACA is the statewide professional organization established to further animal care and control throughout Florida. It represents 1116 professionals from 212 professional animal control agencies throughout Florida.
