One Book, One Community Event @ Broadway Palm Dinner Theatre
Oct 11, 2006 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE One Book, One Community Finale Event at Broadway Palm Dinner Theatre Fort Myers, FL (October 11, 2006) – Lee County Library System's third One Book, One Community: Lee County Reads project will close with a special book discussion at 3:00 p.m. Monday, October 30 at the Broadway Palm Dinner Theatre's Caf Cabaret room. Valerie Alker, News Reporter/Producer at WGCU Public Media, and Barbara Stites, Assistant Director FGCU Library Services, will co-host this discussion of Khaled Hosseini's "The Kite Runner." Chefs from Broadway Palm Dinner Theatre will prepare samples of traditional Afghani foods to set the mood for discussion of this epic tale of fathers and sons, loyalty and betrayal set against a backdrop of Afghanistan's history over the past 40 years. Susan Johnson, General Manager at Broadway Palm Dinner Theatre, states "I have purchased at least three Kite Runners for various book lovers that I know. What a wonderful book and I'm so glad we'll be promoting and discussing it at Broadway Palm." This event is the grand finale of the month-long One Book, One Community: Lee County Reads "The Kite Runner" community reading project taking place throughout October. The project is a countywide reading and discussion program that encourages all residents to read the same book at the same time, and then participate in related cultural, educational and recreational activities.
