Dawning Technologies, Inc. to Locate Headquarters in Lee County

FORT MYERS, FL -Dawning Technologies, Inc., a leader in advanced interfacing solutions for medical applications, has chosen to locate its headquarters, R&D, and manufacturing facility operation in Lee County.  The company will create 23 new, high-tech, high-wage jobs and make an initial capital investment of $70,000 within the region.

"With its focus on e-commerce solutions, Dawning Technologies adds to a robust base of innovative companies that make up Florida's ever growing information technology industry sector," said Governor Bush.  "I am pleased we were able to assist Lee County to recruit this exciting company, and I thank Dawning Technologies for making Florida, 'The Innovation Hub of the Americas,' its new home."

Dawning Technologies, Inc.'s new Lee County base will focus on a commitment to research and development programs, which are dedicated to combining the most modern software and hardware technology available to provide cost effective, innovative solutions for their customers.  The company plans to produce connectivity solutions for end users such as hospital labs, insurance labs, other clinical diagnostic labs; diagnostic instrument manufacturers, and medical information systems vendors.

"We're excited by the growing economy and positive business atmosphere in Lee County," said Dawning President, John Selmyer, "and we've decided that it will be a great base for our headquarters.  Thank you to the Lee County Economic Development Office, the Governor's Office and Enterprise Florida for helping to make this transition into the Southwest Florida region possible."

Since 1984, Dawning Technologies has been developing the most advanced interfacing solutions for clinical laboratories, pharmaceutical/biotech companies, Point-of-Care systems vendors, and a variety of other organizations around the world.  The company is currently the only interface vendor offering Java-based applications.  Dawning Technologies serves more than 2000 clients around the globe.

"We are pleased to welcome Dawning Technologies, an established quality employer to our community and proud to announce the high wage jobs to be created as a result," said Regina Smith, Executive Director of the Lee County Economic Development Office.

The Governor's Office of Tourism, Trade, and Economic Development worked closely with Enterprise Florida, Inc., the Board of County Commissioners of Lee County, and the Lee County Economic Development Office to secure this project for the region and state.  Competition for the project was Virginia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia, and New York.

"With a technically talented workforce, advanced technology infrastructure and thriving information technology sector, Florida has a dynamic business environment that continues to attract innovative, high-tech companies like this one," said Enterprise Florida President and CEO Darrell Kelley. "In fact, Dawning Technologies joins 10,000 IT companies already doing business in the Sunshine State."

The Economic Development Office of Lee County works to attract new and diversified businesses resulting in high-wage, high-skilled jobs; retains and encourages the expansion of existing businesses; and improves the overall business environment in Lee County.  Additional information is available at www.leecountybusiness.com.
