International Literacy Day

FORT MYERS, Fla., Sept. 5, 2006 – September 8 is International Literacy Day. The Lee County Library System celebrates literacy all this week with special programs and displays of library resources:

11 a.m. and 3 p.m. Friday, September 8
Celebrate International Literacy Day with the Pine Island Public Library and the Pine Island Kiwanis.  Wear the color orange and be proud that you can read. Come for stories and fun! Children's Program

Celebrate Literacy Day 2006

Riverdale Branch Library invites you to a fun-filled open house. "Gaming tables" will offer word games, quizzes and prizes up until 2 p.m., when the "Read a Good Book Lately?" discussion forum will begin in the meeting room. Registration requested. Ready Collection
materials to help adult learners with basic math and reading skills, English as a Second Language, and preparation for GED tests and citizenship
Rosetta Stone
an online resource for learning English (or any of 23 other languages) by using the Lee County Library System website and a Lee County Library System library card. 

English Caf Classes
a drop-in program for adult ESOL/ESL students to practice English speaking skills. Topics include everyday situations, current events and cultural issues (Participants should have basic English skills.)
