The Smartest Card is @ your library

August 31, 2006, Fort Myers, FL – The Lee County Board of County Commissioners will proclaim September as Library Card Sign-up Month in Lee County at their regular meeting on Tuesday, September 5. Library Director Sheldon Kaye will receive the proclamation and provide Commissioners with copies of this year's One Book, One Community project title: "The Kite Runner" at the presentation.

Library Card Sign-up Month recognizes that a library card gives you free access to materials and services that can change your life, or just make it more fun.

"Your Lee County Library System library card offers free access to more than a million books and magazines, CDs and DVDs, software, the Internet and other resources for learning and entertainment," said Heather O'Connell, Community Relations Coordinator for the Lee County Library System.

Library staff provides help in finding, evaluating and using information from books, journals, magazines, online materials, and other resources. This free reference help is available in person, by phone, or via live online chat.

Lee County Library System provides free informative programs, such as crime prevention, starting a business, genealogy seminars and computer classes, as well as entertaining programs, from puppet shows, storytelling and magic shows to dance performances and author visits.

A Lee County Library System library card is available free to anyone who lives, works or goes to school in Lee County.
